Hey everyone! My name is Mark-Elliot Finley, and I am from Sarasota, Fl. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English Education and a minor in French from the University of Tampa, where I graduated magna cum laude from the Honors College and hold a master’s degree from the University of South Florida in English literature. I am continuing my studies at USF towards a doctorate in English Literature. My research interests include the Early Modern period and fantasy Christian literature, with particular attention to the intertextual echoes between the writings of C.S. Lewis and English Renaissance poets like Edmund Spenser and John Milton.

I strive to be a teacher-scholar, combining my drive for literary research with my passion for teaching. This portfolio serves as an overview of my pedagogy, demonstrating the emphasis I place upon the teaching profession.

My scholarly work has generally focuses on Early Modern and Lewisian studies. However, regardless of what I work on, my published and presented work generally incorporates a link between either Renaissance literature, C.S. Lewis’s writings, or fantasy literature more broadly, appreciated through diverse cultural and historical frameworks.
